Designer with an emphasis on user research
I am drawn to people and building relationships. Whether that is with users, team members, or other stakeholders, my focus is to develop rapport and open communication. I am interested in people’s behavior and what motivates their actions which is why I find user research so intriguing. When interacting with others I try to empathize with them and understand their point of view. This ability / desire to connect with others improves my design work and allows me to create enjoyable experiences and interactions.
Research is crucial to the foundation of any design idea. But the knowledge gained needs to be converted into actionable insights. I approach every project systematically, considering the requirements and resources when creating a plan. I break the project up into phases in which we need to utilize various methods and tools to meet our goal. I understand that not everything goes according to plan. Which is why I can adjust and adapt to unforeseen situations in order to stay on track.
As the world is shifting to more digital interactions, I have had to adapt as a designer. This past year’s projects have all been conducted remotely through the use of digital platforms. Each project involved recruiting users online for remote research and testing purposes ie. usability testing, workshops, interviews and other qualitative and quantitative research methods. As well as collaborating with my teammates and co-designing with users using Miro, Zoom, Figma, etc. I feel very confident conducting whole projects remotely and enjoy the challenge of rethinking how things used to be done and reshaping it for the world we live in today.
